I'm cleaning the mounting surface on the top of the exhaust manifold where the gasket will be, and on the port side there is a very hard sealant or something. BTW, that is the side that was overheating. The sealer/filler (?) is lime green and comes off with a lot of scraping. Could it be a filler used to repair the gasket surface? Maybe I should not be scraping it off!!! Any thoughts?
I was going to use a sanding block to get everything clean and smooth, but I will wait until I hear from a few of you.
