Model # 135383

When cold this motor takes at least 5 mins to start. :( If I squirt some gas/oil mix into the carbs it will start right up when cold. After that it runs fine all day but idles a bit rough.

I am pumping the bulb up properly and the fuel tank as a good vent on it.

Sounds like a classic case of dirty idle circuit. You might try enrichening the idle circuits but you probably need to remove the carbs and do a thorough cleaning/rebuild.

Idling isn't the real problem (although u are probably right about the carbs. Will the idle circuits cause problems with starting? Are these carbs hard to rebuild?

System - Piece of cake with normal driveway mechanic tools. Very desirable to have the OMC shop and parts manuals.

The mixture for this engine is 50:1? and running it at 32:1 would cause idle problems?

The extra oil would only affect your idle signifcantly if it begins to carbon up your spark plugs. A dirty idle circuit will affect not only you idle, but your takeoff from idle to high speed, and it will affect starting. Think about it, what rpm do you usually crank the motor up at? Most of the mixture at startup is coming from your idle circuit unless you crank it with full throttle.
