once it starts things are ok, but getting it started has become a bear.

fuel pressure is ok, but it will only start after a lot of cranking and pressurizing at the bulb, and only after letting it sit still for 10min or so afterward. Any ideas?

It would help if you listed the starting procedure you're using. Are you pressing the key in to actuate the primer solenoid?

What is the model number of the engine. I don't recall seeing a year listed.

Hi Joe,
its a '90 J225PLESS with the bronze anodized second effort billet heads, and after pumpingh the bulb firm, I've been using the choke push-in as I always have - the solenoid clicks when I do, and after finally starting and getting warm, pushing the key in again does drop the rpm about a thousand as the primer richens the mix
