Hard Steering On Evinrude

Hey<br /> On my Bass Boat I Have twin Tube teleflex.. the steering is hard to turn. i cleaned all the old gummy grease off the tubes and it is still hard to turn. is there a set screw on the back of the teleflex steering wheel to make it go easier?? my motor can only take one tube/cable can i remove the second tube/cable??

What ya' need to do is remove both from the engine. May have to lift the engine to get the one in the tilt tube out. If the steering gets easier, the tubes are gummed up with grease and dirt. Clean them out.<br /><br />If it stays hard to steer, you may be looking at replacing the cables. No adjustments on the back of the helm.<br /><br />Just a thought.....do you have a jack plate on the boat?

Put a new teleflex system on it you can do it your self in about 2-3 hrs @200 dollars are less Dont take any chances of the thing breaking or locking up at high speed.
