Hard time taking the seats out

just got a new pg v-16. i was moving a couple of the seats around to other bases, man these things are a BEAR to get out. i depress the lever/button on the side of the post and wiggle it up and out. but they come out hard. am i doing something wrong here?

a little squirt of wd-40 helped. i think they'll wear in eventually.

Any other suggestions for the seat posts? I worked on mine and was able to remove them. I then took the boat out a few days later and had a hard time removing the seat posts again. Is there anyway or anything out there to allow for easy removal of the seat posts? Thanks in advance.

so far the wd-40 is doing the trick. i've had 2 of mine in and out quite a few times since then and they come out pretty easy.

Older post but the nice weather got me thinking about the water. One of my seat posts is really stuck. Any ideas? The only way I was able to get the seat post out before was to use WD-40 and a mallet and then having someone hold the release while I used a long screwdriver to yank the hell out of it. Almost got knocked out of the boat when it let loose.

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the just the taper lock only to replace (the locking mechanism at the bottom of the post)? Or can the taper lock be removed and cleaned, possibly removing any debris that may have caused the taper lock to maybe swell up a bit? I think they are riveted on though. Thanks for your assistance.

I would never use WD40 as a lubricating solution. Grease will last much longer and work well.

Agreed, white lithium always works for me...it's "spray can" easy and lasts a long time.

After I finally got mine out (92 Tracker Deep v 17) I took a drum sander mounted on my air drill and went around the inside of the hole and sort of smoothed out the plastic. I think it gets sand and crap imbedded in the plastic and the seat post plastic and that sort of causes the plastic to distort around each grain of sand as it gets pressed into the surface by the seat post rocking back and forth. after I had a nice fit I then used dry teflon spray all around the post and base plastic. now about 3 times each year I pull the seat posts and inspect and if it's fitting tight I just touch it up with some sand paper and relube with dry teflon spray. Problem solved even my wife can move the seats at will.
