i am having problem with my Boston whaler rage 14. I find it have to goes straight while using trolling motor. I think the reason is that it is a jet boat with have a flat bottom and the trolling the back side tents to swing. I have a deep v boat that I find much easiler to control. I just the rage 14 because it can goes to much shallow water. Any one have idea how to over come the swing back problem of the boat?

birdgod, is your trolling motor mounted on the bow or transom? I ask because pulling a boat along is tons easier to control them pushing the boat along with a trolling motor. So if your's is bow mounted, it shouldn't offer much problems controlling the hull. If it is bow mounted and giving you problems, try lowering the trolling motor a little further into the water. That could help solve your problems. JMHO

A drift sock in the back might help. It'll add resistance to slow down the back from drifting unless your in water with a current. Then a drift sock could be troublesome.

Being a flat bottom boat any wind or current will allow the transom to swing or the bow to swing on a transom mount. Not much you can do about it unless you want to create some type of keel to project down under the boat to keep it tracking straighter.
