Wow, thanks a million for all the cold starting tips. Yes, I learned the primer bulb has to be pressed with the arrow pointing upwards and stays firm. I was slowly learning to remember to do that before turning my key in the last few seasons. I never tried to use the motor in cold weather. Winterized it because of the cold snow in the last few years. This year has been warm. The motor starts right up in 2014, 2015 not 2016 and not 2017 first trip. Did get it to start but had to take the cover off.
The primer bulb pressure has been another trouble maker in the past. I had to buy the connectors for both the engine side and the gas tank side and make sure the connections in the entire fuse line is seal and no leak. Last year was towed in while trolling for stripe bass on the river, and motor started to choke and died. I pressed down the primer bulb, and it stayed hard instead of being deflated and then inflated with gas. It turned out a tiny rock or something stuck in the connector between the primer bulb and the fuse line to the engine. Had to call tow boat. I was able to open the tank and press the primer real hard and I heard a loud pop. The stuck item broke through the channel and finally the bulb started to respond to my press and deflate and inflate. And sure enough the motor started in first crank without hesitation. What a learning experience!
Yes, the throttle cable is coming loose in 2016, and meant to fix it. It is a royal pain in the butt to open up the dirty oily remote control box to fix it. The cable adjustment was also another thing (never quite learn how to tighten it). I did turn the little round gear at the engine side, but never knew when is the appropriate point to stop. I was doing things by trial and errors. Once I got it to work, I just left it until it breaks again. LOL
Never truly learn the mechanics of it. Thanks again for the tips.
