I just bought a 1999 1750 bayliner capri with a 3.0 merc. I took it out for the first time. Ran perfect, started right up, impressed with the power considering its only a 3.0L. But the only problem I have is that it is damn near impossible to turn. I took it out of the water, greased everything up, took the pin out connecting the steering cable to the stern drive. Stern drive moved very easily. When I turned the steering wheel seemed to move fine with just the cable, felt normal. Would I be correct in thinking that the cable is bad and with the pressure of the stern drive isnt moving freely, or is there anything else I have overlooked.

Thanks, Jon

Ayuh,... 1st place to look is for corrosion inside the aluminum tube at the transom...
If cleanin', 'n lubin' that don't work,...
Ya, it's probably time for a New cable....

Ayuh,... You have to pull the cable, Completely out of the tube to tell....

Otherwise, is the cable have any tight bends,..??
If so, try to straighten it some...
Or,..
Replace the cable..
