I haven't on that same boat but I did on my 21WAC w/140 Rude on it. I replaced everything from helm back and still no change. The only thing left was to go to hydralic steering. Lots of motor torque I believe. Is your a ponton boat? I believe my 1999 Yamaha 2 stroke S150 is about 419lbs so your 4 stroke must weight another 50-100lbs more. When you say hard to steer is it hard to turn the wheel or is it not steering in the direction your turning? My 150 is on my new project Wellcraft 180 and haven't had it in the water to see if it steers easy, hoping to have a sea trial next week.

Does it steer hard both right and left when running? Have you greased the cables at the motor?

If it steers hard in one direction, have you adjusted your trim tab on the cavitation plate?
