hard top ready to build

(last chance to talk me out of it)<br />OK, I have spent over a year researching parts, etc.. on how to get it built. <br /><br />The boat top is to be about 6' wide X 5' supported by 2" aluminum pipe with cast aluminum brackets at the corners. It'll have 6 mounting points and a 1/4 in ch marine grade + fiberglass.<br /><br />My boat has 45+ H.P. over last year with a repower. Is there ANY sane reason why I wouldn't want to go through with it. <br /><br />Its a 1971 Slickcraft Ss235-<br /><br />Thanks

Go For It..........<br /><br />The 1 in my avatar I built Myself........<br /><br />My Only regret is I built it so My Tall friends could walk around, Instead of building it 4" Shorter like My original plan.......<br /><br />It would have Looked Better, 4" lower......

Thats alot of weight up there.Were do you use your boat at?Open seas?If so,you will be rocking and a rolling when trolling or dead in the water.<br />Another thing is,weight shift to the front of the boat which will make the boat dig in at slow speeds.One way you can check is,put two garbage cans up front,filling them with water.That way you will know your displacement.Just do the math on the weight =amount of water to add to the cans.

My Whole Roof doesn't weigh more than 50lbs.......<br /><br />Aluminum Tubing,+ a Fabric topping.......<br /><br />Semi-Rigid Bimini......
