I have an 87 90hp mariner that shifted real hard. I pulled the lower unit and that shifts ok. I disconnected the shift cable and the control box shifts ok. I have narrowed it down to the shaft that runs down through the power trim. I can barely move it back and forth. I have tried spraying wd40 over the last couple of days with little or no success. Anybody had any luck with these short of removing the complete outboard, I don't know if this even possible I got some real rusty bolts to deal with for that. Thanks for any advice up front.
