Hi...I just bought an older '77 EldaCraft bass boat that has a 1978 Mercury M-1150 (115 HP) on it. The wiring coming from the wiring harness (inside the engine) is cracked and peeling and I need to replace it. I have the serial number. Where can I find the right harness? (I also need gas tank, etc.) Can someone steer me in the right direction? Heck, I can't even find the latch to lift the motor to it's upright position. ANY help would be appreciated.

......a dumb newbie. Was in the Coast Guard years ago, but haven't had experience with fixing boats.

Re: Harness and parts

shift motor to forward and lift. any generic plastic tank will work with the merc fitting applied. just check the tank for plastic particles, before filling. harness oldmercs.com, seawaymarine.com maxrules.com. get a manual also, and you probably need an impeller and carb kits.

Re: Harness and parts

pull the tilt pin. it's the pin that runs thru the transom mount, that support the motor. the wire to the release is probably broken. this is a johnson, but the same principle.
