I am rebuilding my transom on a 1970's starcraft and was thinking about making a bracket to hang a 5 hp kicker engine off as an emergency backup. I know its not gonna go very fast but my starcraft aluminum is light and if my main engine quits its better then nothing.
I have seen some transom plates for 125$, but it looks like its just a bracket and a plastic board.
I am sure I can make something similar with metal brackets and marine plywood. Or Metal and rivets.
Has anyone attempted this? Does anyone know of plans on line or pictures I can look at to guide me?
Or is there enough room to mount it next to the engine? Has anyone done this on an old starcraft?
