Ive been looking for boats and came across a 1978 18ft cobalt trihull with a v8 351. Im just looking for some input like how the wake is and other pros/cons of this boat having a jet instead of a prop. thanks

Jet boat is just ok. It is nothing fancy. The wake is not good for it. You can do it, but if you plan on jumping or doing tricks then NOPE!

The wake is generally mushy and the water between the wakes is very airated.... overall nto good for wakeboarding.

My friend has a 22ft sea doo islandia and we go ski behind it and I dont think wakeboarding would be to good behind it. As kyle f said its very mushy. When we skiied we used a tower and crossing the wake was easy so I dont think its very good for wakeboarding. Now behind my sea ray with an outboard has a nice solid wake. Also the jet boat is very pricey on gas. IMO go with a boat with a inboard,I/O or O/B

A big jet makes a pretty decent sized wake. We used to ski behind a beaman with a 454 and Berkley Jet (before wakeboards really existed) and it had a pretty harsh wake that you could easily jump skiis off of.

The type of jet on the boat you are looking at is nothing at all like the jetski jets that they put in newer boats.

I reckon if a jet boat is what you've got, then go out and board behind it.

I learnt to wakeboard behind a jetski where the towing point was about 1ft above the water.
