I got this motor from my uncle and I can't find any info on it. The serial tag is missing. And I can't find a listing for a 14 or super 14 made by evinrude except in 1956 and I know this motor is not that old. If anyone knows anything about this motor or where else I could find some identification on it please let me know.
thanks, John.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?

wow, that's a weird one alright. Looks to be from the late 70's or early 80's. But surely that's a 'sold overseas" model. Is that a 12volt cigarette lighter socket on that thing? Cool.
Wish I could help,
JBJ

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?

there should be a welch plug on the engine block that may help you identify the motor. look for a quarter sized round plug usually silver in color with some numbers on it, post the numbers here and I am sure that one of us will be able to help you!

Look around on the top of the motor for a dime sized aluminum plug.It should have some numbers stamped on it.
Any numbers at all on the transom bracket?

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?

I just surfed on the net a bit - can't find a thing other than the fifies model 14s and some earlier 14 hp motors. Just by the cowl and pan shape, its pretty obvious that your motor is based on the 9.9/15 hp model that began in the 70s. I would guess that the motor was made for foreign sales.

I'm pretty sure that's an AC power out on the side. Those were pretty popular options in asia (and the S. pacific) or so I'm told.

does anyone know what carb. might work on this motor. It has some kind of primmer pump that hooks to it and it has no air box

Look on the Evinrude website. It shows an early production and late production 1988 14hp. They have 2 different carbs.
They do have rebuild kits for both, once you see the diagram you should be able to tell what carb you have.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?

That's a pretty cool motor. I just did some homework on it, based on what is listed at shop.evinrude. Your motor is ....

Model: VE14RCCS

The V suggests that the motor was made for a boat builder. The motors that start with "T" wer made for Tracker - I guess that V is for any other boat builder.

The R means that it is rope start.

The CC is the designation for a 1988 motor

The S is the model run.

Among the interesting things about the motor is that it seems to have been made only in 1988 and 1989. It also has a split gearcase, with a pin drive prop. The rest of the motor looks like it is pretty much stock 15hp, to me. I wouldn't be surprised if the 1 hp difference is related to the difference between the through the hub exhaust on the 15 hp v. the pin drive setup on the 14 hp.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?

The carb. on this one is the earlier model. The bad news the carb is now junk the orfus tube it broke. The guy at the Rude dealer told me tolook for a 9.9 or a 15hp carb. So thats where i am now. If anyone knows of one can you let me know? Again thanks everyone for all of your help on this one. Oh one other thing does anyone know what the power plug on the side is for?
