Has anyone had detrimental effects from soaking carbs in carb cleaner?

Hi,

After soaking 3 carbs in cleaner overnight someone copied a note out of his school manual saying not to do this.

Has anyone experienced a problem doing this? Thanks.

I soaked my 1995 Johnson 48SPL carbs over night and have not managed to figure out a fuel leak after 3 or 4 attempts. The fuel pin was seating on the seat adequately per pressure test, however I could not get the right new seat for my carb despite the parts # being correct. I just ordered 2 used carbs on ebay for not much more than the cost of 3 carb repair kits, hoping that works out. Tired of messing with the old leaky ones.
