What manual? What is the exact verbatim title? Who published it? What is the copyright date?

These are all essential pieces of the puzzle.

Go over the engine and sterndrive in fine detail, writing down every description and code and number you can find. Pictures of the engine and the sterndrive from several angles also is valuable.

When you can find and post all this info, you will have a definite answer.

AQ430B is a GM v6 4.3L (262 cid). The sea water pump is mounted on the harmonic balancer and is clearly shown in the manual.

I don't understand why a dealer would have problems identifying this unless the cooling system has been modified. Maybe take your old impeller with you, the salesman should be able to identify it.

I suggest you get a copy of the clymer manual B770, it shows your model and good views of your cooling system. I think they are available at i-boats.

Aldo

Those pumps arent even Volvos. Jabsco or Johnsons, there should be a number on the housing and any marine dealer or Napa store can get you a kit for it. You need another parts man my friend.

Re: Has anyone heard of this I/O engine?

Thanks for your help.I will try the dealer in Port Credit.I think the main problem I am having is trying to determine the correct model year of this engine. All the hoses I can find are original and date stamped 9/92 my Volvo owners manual is dated 9/1991 my owners card states the following.Engine type 430B Engine serial # 4100139135,then product #868526.The impeller housing is mounted at the front 4 holes on the plate. The engine is red if thas any help.I just dont understand why when I call the volvo dealers they cant seem to find parts for this engine or even "cross reference" the part #'s.Can it be this hard to find a impeller and gasket? The engine is not (that old).

I did a Google search for Volvo 430B and got about 25 hits.

The best site is a Swedish marine service site:

http://www.marinshopen.se/

I know nothing about Swedish, but can figure out much of what they are saying by just looking at the words. Almost all educated Swedes have some English fluency. You might try to email them for info and parts if necessary.

With the serial number you should not have a problem, but what you may be running into is a dealer and thats it they sell'em but don't really service'em Just cause they hang a sign does not mean they are Volvo qualified to repair but are to sell new product, like I said give Bristol a call, Steve is the parts manager and will work for you, they do shelf alot of volvo parts also, these guys are probably the biggest Volvo service in Ontario, Let us know how you make out.
