I'm interested in using g oil to combat the oil smell and smoke and was wondering how it stands up .Has anyone used it ?, and what do you think?

It's oil based on animal fat (tallow) and even though they do make a TCW3 rated 2 stroke oil....... I would not gamble my outboard on it.

Re: Has anyone used g oil ?

I can't think of any reason their TCW3 certified oil would not be as suitable as any other TCw3 certified oil. I have no opinion on it's value in terms of environmental friendliness or cost. But if it's TCW3, there's no reason not to use it if you can afford it. I would be interested in knowing how it works in terms of smoke and smell compared to say, a regular TCW3 or synthetic.

I also wonder about "the highest biodegradability ranking as determined by ASTM Standards (2.1 ASTM D-5864)."

Is this unique for this oil, or do other oils have that same ranking? Quick glance I see a price of about US$40+ per gallon, which seems a little steep.

Interesting.

Re: Has anyone used g oil ?

Been using it for 2 months,no problems atall, works well ,very little smoke. Motor seems to like it ,and if it likes it, i like it.Ive trolled alot and made several extended high rpm runs with no issues atall.Ifind it interesting that people will use other synthetic oils but are learry of this one ,why?Is it because its based on animal fat and tallow? You do realize that synthetic oil is just that ,synthetic?Maybe because its sort of new people are a little hesitant to use it but not me ive got no problems atall checking it out .

Re: Has anyone used g oil ?

"Synthetic" oil is made from PETROLEUM, I never realized that until I read a big long article about oil and lubricants. There is no reason synthetics couldn't be made from oils other than petroleum. If its rated TCW3, theres no reason it shouldn't be ok, but realize TCW3 is a testing procedure, not a recipe, so not all the TCW3 oils are equal.

Anybody know where to find this stuff in the US? I'd like to try a quart or two in my kicker. Cost for that thing matters not a bit, and anything that reduces the smoke is worth it when trolling with a wind blowing back onto you.
