Looking at this unit to power the boats electrical demands when on the hook for long periods of time. It will fit on my swim platform when in use. When not in use it will be stored in the midberth compartment. Mainly need it when the wifey wants to use the onboard electrical stove.

I do not recommend that you use that generator on the boat. It is not marine rated. I have one at home for use when the power goes out. I have it in a shed with a wooden floor so I had to attach a ground wire connected to an approximately 10' long copper pipe buried vertically into the ground to prevent anyone from being electricuted by the generator. You can't do that on a boat. It you want a generator, PLEASE, get a marine generator. Your safety is more important than a couple of hundred dollars saved. Safe boating. Hy

Yeah, I've used one of those. They are L O U D. I mean SO loud you'll have a headache within 10 minutes. Don't buy it for the boat, you won't be happy. I use mine for emergency power at home and can't run it late at night because it keeps all the neighbors awake.
If you must go "cheap" (non-marine), the only alternative is a sinewave generator like the Honda EU2000i. Quiet and relatively lightweight.
Just my opinion, but your 268 would be an excellent candidate for a marine genny. Sure they're expensive, but it's nice to have- and a great selling point when the time comes.
