Oh, and you should move to Florida, it's always boating season! :D

Thanks for that reminder. But on the flip side, I bet you can't skate or play hockey on the lake in February next to the boat launch.:p

Oh wait a second, that probably isn't a selling feature to you southern folks:eek:

Checker Auto Parts has some lights that I have used and was very happy with for quite a bit less money. They have a chrome hood that deflects the light down over a white lense, and are about 2.5 inches long. They are not LED. I had 3 in a pontoon boat and they gave the grandkids plenty of light to move around.

TD,

How did those LED lights work out on the toon, how many did you use?

I'm was thinking of using LED rope lights on my 18' aluminum, but the cheaper pod LEDs look interesting. I want a lot of light in my boat for night fishing, how many do you think it would take to light up the boat well,,, 20?

i use one each at the 2 bow fishing seats, and i mounted 2 under the ledge of the center console. this gives enough light to bait a hook, and get the hook out, and also to walk around with out tripping on something. i do not like a lot of light, as it ruins your night vision. if i wanted more light, i can always install more on a different switch.

I used 6 on my 16'. One on each side of the bow seats, one under each console, and one on each side under the shelf, between the rear and rear-facing seats. Plenty of lighting for me. You may want 2 more, but you may be surprised how much light you get from them. 20 would be a floating spotlight I would think on an 18'.

I also thought about adding more on a different switch for when I want to light up like an Xmas tree.

Thanks TD, I,am going to run them on separate switches, main cabin below gunnels, under consoles, bow deck, hatches, maybe engine dog house...

I have never seen the LED pod lights in person and how much light they throw off,,, looks like more might not be better here :D

Did you guys use the directional/focused type or the dispersed type of LED pods. I saw some pods with 5 focused LEDS that fan out and then another strip set that has dispersed light. Don't know which would be more appropriate for a boat as I can see good points for both.

I was thinking of putting 1 of them inside each hatch and leave them burning with the other main interior LED lighting since they draw so little current, bad idea, do they get hot?
