This would have been about 10 years ago, and I was a youngster goofing around in my 12 ft. Aluminum with a 9.8 Merc (best boat in the world). And being the adventurest that I was, I would be gone for hours by myself on a small lake. Dad would mix the gas and leave it in the shed for me to pour into the tank and be gone. Well, I would take the tank up to shore, fill it up and put the can back in the shed and head out for a ride. About 1/2 way down the lake, the old motor would start to rev up and down a few times, and it was that exact moment when I looked infront of me and I would realize that there was no 5 gallon tank attached to the end of the line. So sure enough Had to fire up the old 2 Hp (both oars) to get back home.

Best part about it, after having the "act responsible talk" from my father, he did the exact same thing in the pontoon boat. However, he was much more smooth about it, and would fish until someone came out and told him it was time to come in, and he would respond with "I think the battery is dead, could you tow me in?"

Now I have learned to be more creative if that little accident happens again.

Belchy
