thisoldboat- i won't comment on bayliner or force. i hear the bad rep they have, but rather think of them as a value line- much like my sunbird neptune 200cc. if you care for it, it should last until you upgrade to something bigger (don't we all do that?)

what i will say, being a fellow annapolitan, is that you're in for a rough ride taking on the bay in that boat. my friend just bought a 2002 1950 bayliner and we always joke with him about the bow shots he takes. a small runabout is just not a good boat for this bay. if you keep it in the rivers, different story. i just share that with you because my 20' center console gets rocked pretty bad, even with a decent v and deadrise. it makes for a hell of a ride, though.

hope to see you around town-

There is no way I would risk taking on the weather on some big water in a Bayliner (Capri). Unless I had a wish to be featured on America's Best Rescues...

I recently got pounded in my 21 CC, certainly a more seaworthy craft. Our old Bayliner would have been in serious trouble. That is a fact, not an attempt to bust on another boat.

jocko

Bill, no offence intended but, unlike our money, our storms up here in Canada are the same as down there. Any sea in which you could run a bayliner capri at w-o-t was not a storm as I define them. If you mean you were off plane in a storm then I am sure you weren't in a following sea as the low stern on a capri is huge worry in that situation and, for example, forces you to troll in only one direction in a moderate sea when fishing.

I will go out on a limb and bash capris a little. They are excellent inexpensive fast boats suitable for water skiing, small lakes, sheltered water and calm days. They are not boats for the saltchuck. IMHO their hulls are too light and shallow-v to run in even moderate waves and they can't take the pounding, plus the fittings will shake apart if the salt corrosion does not get them first. I am interested to hear anyone who has regularly used a bayliner capri in salt water without problems.

I was surprised to read through this thread. I had expected the same old/same old Bayliner bashing that go's on here on this forum, but not so this time. If I were you I would listen to the first thread, get it checked out to make sure you know what your buying & go from there. BTW: I own a 1985 Bayliner W/ Force 85hp O/B & it runs great. Just happen to be "Boat of the Year" in 1985:D
