that's true. no one said boating was on the cheap... :(

with ya there mate - don't mind spending the extra when its actually a marine part - but if its a general purpose vaccuum pump and they still charge an extra just coz its in a marine shop - thats when it gets my back up.

all down hill from there - love it:D

:D

what kind of money are they ziggy?

i'm all for an easy life ;)

over here anything even vaguely related to boats/marine etc suddenly becomes twice as much as you would expect.

You can find them on ebay for $50-100 depending on capacity, brand, etc. Lots of online retailers carry them too.

well for my 2 cents i use the hose adapter for the oil pan and i love it .. if you have access to the drain plug hole from the inside to shove the hose through its a simple easy clean way to drain the oil .. i would say the hardest thing is installing the hose kit to oil pan ... after mine is drained i cap it and route it up in the back of my boat higher than the oil pan just in case it was to leak .... but i have never had that problem .. i think its worth the initial effort

If you using any kind of a pump and pumping it out of the dipstick the garden hose connection works much better than the thin tube down the dipstick method....even though my Topsider pump did not come with a garden hose adaptor, another pump I had (Stearns electric model that always lost prime) did have one so I adapted that to the Topsider. It works much better and because the dipstick tube does go all the way down to the bottom of the oil pan, it really does get most of the oil out...somehow I just can't bring myself to draining oil into the bilge in bags....just seems like a mess waiting to happen...

If I ever pull this engine out I might try to get a drain hose for it but honestly the garden hose connection on the dipstick tube works great and is trouble free, no chance of leaks etc.
