The Outer Banks of NC are amazing. We used to have a summer house down on Ocracoke, however we have since sold that for the new place in Wrightsville Beach.

I'm glad you liked it out there - no other place like it :D

I'd live there... if there was something i could do for enough income to support my hobbies...

one of my favorite places on earth... especially in the fall, winter and spring... beaches in the truck (I know...), off shore fishing, aunting the inlets and sound in smaler boats and kayaks, etc, etc, etc...

yup. been going to the obx for 10+ years for family vacations. this was my second year straight year where we were able to also fit in a fall fishing trip to Hatteras Village area. We had a house directly on the sound right next to the marina... good fishing... good friends... and a lot of beverages = an amazing week!

This is good to hear. I got a new boat this year and my best friend lives in Raleigh and is after me to go to OBX. Now I have another reason to consider going.:)

Couldn't agree more...we've been going to OBX for 8 yrs now and we usually get a house in Avon. We love it. We spend time surf-fishing on the point in Hatteras and on the sound side just walking the beach with our dogs. I love being able to load the family into my suburban and take them to the beach without having to carry a ton of beach stuff all over the place. when you're done on the beach you clean up, load up and head home. The only down side is the amount of time it takes to get the sand back out of the vehicle. lol

I actually live in Eastern North Carolina... a couple hours closer to the coast than Raleigh... and spend a good bit of our boating time on the Tar river, pamlico river / sound, sometimes down on the back side of the crystal coast, up to Jordan or Kerr, etc... within an hour and a half can be on a lot of different bodies of water - all of em wonderful and very unique in it's own way. Some of the places we go, if we head out on a week day it's not uncommon to see few if any other boats all day long. I also used to spend days haunting the boaches in the truck chasing drum and stripers... if you fish, another really cool trip is the roanoke river during the striper run... clauser minnows and sinking line on a 7 to 9 wt fly rod, catch stripers intul your arms and shoulders hurt from the exercise...

Thanks. I'm sending this info to my buddy tonite to plan my next trip to NC. Would love to fish something like stripers for a change.:)
