Happy Halloween. My sister has a 150 Yam 4 stroke c. 2005. While riding along, the motor started raising itself. Did it a couple of times. Seems to ahve resolved itself, but who knows. Anyone else seen this?

I'm assuming a switch got stuck, possibly inadvertently hit on the throttle (her 16 yo daughter was running it at the time). Suggested spray with CRC or something into the switches.

Is the PTT switch a thumb toggle switch? If so, it likely has some water in it. The water will settle to the bottom of the switch an make contact between the up contacts. Blow the water out and spray some oil in there.

It is also possible that vibration is causing a defective up relay to close. If cleaning the switch doesn't help and the problem returns, try changing the relay.

Frank step away from the bong pipe. You think a relay fails and makes a solid 10 amp connection???

Well, they are rated for 30 amp and the switch inside is spring loaded--notice I mentioned vibration? I didn't say a failed relay, I said defective. There is a difference.
