Re: Haut vs Big Oil
Z,
Please read what the profit margins are. Learn the percentages. As for the men in suits, yes, they would laugh at you. They don't make 10yr loans based on quarterly results. As KIZ said, they lost money for years. YEARS. See the state of the American automakers to see what can happen.
But we can watch how things go for Hugo Chavez to see how your plan would have worked out. I say 3-5 years and its all over.
Again, the percentages bear out that your cost to fill your tank would be greater than 90 bucks. Isn't that rediculous? (What do you drive that takes almost 100 bucks to fill???) What wouldn't be rediculous? What is your threshold for socialism. 8 bucks?
Quote:
Bull****. Not long ago gas was $2. Now it's $3.40 and rising. They were making a profit at $2. Now who's pocketing that extra $1.40 a gallon?
Just making up stuff doesn't support your point. How many gallons of gas are sold in the United States each day? Multiply by 30. Then Multiply by 3. Then figure the rest of the world markets that each of these companies service. Multiply by 30. Multiply by 3. Now take the number of gallons sold and divide the profit by those gallons.
2 bucks a gallon, your killin me.
