Have a friend looking at an older Boston Whaler

Have a friend looking for a Boston Whaler. so he is riding around on a lake, spots one and sends me a picture, then asks me if I had any idea on model or vintage so he could figure out what its worth and if it should be looked at.

Since my experience with Whalers is minimal, I thought I would post here.



Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like a 17' Montauk to me.

Maybe JB will stop by and clarify things for us in case I'm wrong(it's happened once or twice before)

Great boats, tough, very versatile and nice open layout.

My first reaction was also a '80s Montauk, but the seat put me off. Could be an Outrage 18. Either is a really wonderful boat. 30-40 years is nothing to a Whaler.

Agree that this looks like a 80's Montauk.

Scott- did you get confirmation on the model ?

On Whalers does age really matter? They're supposed to be like fine wine ... vintage makes them better.

Motor does look the same as my '72 Evinrude did.

I was thinking it was one of the 13-15 runabouts, but its hard to tell about the console??!!?? Whatever it is...its a whaler...'nuff said. Have your friend buy it and just enjoy it.
