Hi all,

I have a pair of engines from an 89 san tropez. LH rotation needs a rebuild as it took on water, RH(opp.) is fine, 380 hours. I got them because I want to repower my 5.0 Alpha one Bayliner with a 350.

But, It would take a bit of doing to reverse its rotation.

Or have suggestions about how to reverse it. Thanks!

The cam and distributor gear are the only differences for RH rotation. Easy to convert. And use the accesories from the 305(alt, p/steering etc)

p.s to moderator-he's not trying to sell anything-read the posts before passing judgement.

A lot of people have been naysaying about the switch.

I think I've done enough research to agree with you. Also It helped to have the sister LH engine to compare to.

Have you done a RH to LH?

No, I've done LH to RH though. It's really no big deal. Like I said it's a different cam and a different distributor gear and the firing order on the cap goes from counter-clockwise to clockwise, in your case. If the cam and distributor are good in the clockwise rotation engine you can just use them and it should be a cheap change as well. Did you just get the engines or did you get the outdrives as well?
