Older thread, but I had to jump in. This is me. Change the Toon to a Mustang, and it is me. Dad was not around much so my papaw on my mom's side raised me. He,as with the OPs grandad, taught me all I know. He is "The Man". We restored old Mustangs together when I was younger, and when I turned 12, he gave me a '68 Mustang Fastback. Later in life, I was downsized out of a good job, and had to sell off a bunch of stuff to survive. That '68 went quickly. I literally cried when the guy took it away, and it still pains me to this day...10+ years later. I would give anything to have that car back. I teared up reading this, as I can place myself so completely and so easily in the OPs shoes. Thank God, that as of this writing, my papaw is still alive and well, and I have two other Mustangs that were once his in my garage...and they are going to stay in the family, as long as I have a say-so.
