Hello, I am new to this site! I am 29 and bought my first aluminum fishing boat through a lien sale. The DMV paper work and lien paperwork lists the boat as a 1957 BTM 14' aluminum. I have searched everywhere and cannot find any info on BTM as a boat or manufacturer. Can anybody help me? I'm also wondering what the transom rating is since there is no info on it. Up near the bow on the inside is a riveted tag "Lonestar Boat Manufacturing" they are out of Texas. I still cannot find anything.

Thanks for any help!

Lonestar was bought out by Chrysler around 1967. You can go to fiberglassics and in their library section they have some Lonestar history and brouchures.

Welcome to the forum. I have looked up some abbreviations used by the DMV and there is a listing for BTM which they use to indicate "Body Type Make or (Model)." Perhaps that's what was used when no other information was available. Hope this helps.

Welcome to iboats. :D

Aluminum boats are the best. You are in good company here.

Your pictures make me question your towing ability :p Just kidding!!

Thanks Bob! It has a pretty shaddy looking hitch on it so I have purchased a new one. I will plasma cut the old one off and weld the new one. By looking at it, do you believe the transom could handle at least a 10-15 hp outboard?

That is probably rated for 15. How's the wood reinforcement in the transom? If it's in good shape you're good to go.

I can tell you this.......they don't make em like that anymore. When I was a kid around 13 or so, we use to ski behind a boat very similar to that. It was powered by an old Johnson. I'm not sure about the Johnson's HP but it couldn't have been more that a 15 HP. Brings back old memories. Congratulations and have fun with it.
