DNC connector pinout wire #'s ?
Nope.
A hint:

Aaaaw, the good old days of punch cards, Fortran and Watt IV, and a room full of computers to do one tenth what a musical greeting card can do now.

In the early 80's I wrote machine code for IBM main frame computers. Very time consuming process. Don't miss it one bit. :D

YES! I wasted many good hours typing that game in (Super Star trek), and many more playing it.
Add 100 to your post count as a reward.

Re: Have you seen this?

There are 10 kinds of people in the world:

Those that understand binary,

And those who don't.

I saw this poster on an episode of NCIS.

For those who make fun of me because I am baffled by current technology, I programmed computers (Z-80 and 1KB of RAM) to run demo robots with 1s and 0s.

Anyone else here ever speak directly to a central (maybe micro-) processor in binary?

Yes, more or less... I have been playing around with building a set of MIDI bass pedals (like Rush's Taurus pedals, but they drive a synth instead of producing the notes themselves). The unit is controlled by a microcontroller called a PIC 16F875. The code is written in Microchip assembler. Of course, it has to be "compiled" or "assembled" before it can be loaded to the PIC. I don't know if that counts or not.

If it doesn't, I have this...
I goofed around with "embedding" machine language code in a BASIC program with PEEK and POKE statements. What a PITA. Goodbye, BASIC, hello Turbo PASCAL. What a difference.

We won't talk about what I do for a living...

People still use Turbo Pascal? Last time I heard someone programming in Pascal was in the 80's. You do programming for military?

Everything at my company is C, C++, TCL or Python.

Anything I have done with PICs have been in assembly code because they were just little hobby projects.

One of my favorite geek jokes:

An Obstestrician also has a degree in Computer Science. One day he performs an examination on a pregnant woman.

After it is over the woman says, "Well doctor", is it a boy or girl?

The Doctor replied "Yes".

(Boolean humor)

Re: Have you seen this?

No, the BASIC and Turbo Pascal stuff was back in the 80's on my own computer for fun while I wrote reports in COBOL for a living. I stopped doing "recreational programming" because my wife was a lot more fun. I don't work for the military, but the stuff I do is a trade secret.

I rebuilt slot machines in the early 80's. There were no programs to figure percentages or payouts. I wrote my own programs on a comodor 64 using basic. Today there are aps and software for just about anything. I sort of miss the do it yourself days; they had a feeling of acomplishment.

Do you remember when pinball machines and bowling pin setters were all relays?

Hmmm. that adds up to 2, not 10. A 1 and a 0 do not necessarily make a 10.

That reminds me of something about a 10 at 2 that turns into a 2 at 10.;)

Bruce,
The problem with ignorant people is that they do not know that they are ignorant.
