First, I would like to take a moment to thank all the people who helped me put my Johnson back to life, but things keep coming apart. :( I have a 100HP 1987 Johnson. This time when I put it in forward gear and accelerate, the engine goes to neutral. This happens if I push it hard, from the hole or at any speed. I first noticed it when going at wot. The engine was like loosing the grip on water but only for miliseconds. I stoped to see if I had something on the prop tangled. Seeing nothing I accelerated from the hole and the engine went to neutral. I had to push the lever forward again for the engine to get the gear. Do you think its only a matter of adjusting the shift cable? or is it worst? Please help

Have you tried another prop? Perhaps your prop hub is slipping.

I'd disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever and engage forward gear from the engine. If it doesn't jump out of gear, adjust the cable. If it does jump out of forward, you're probably looking at replacing the clutch dogs.

c/6

Hooty
