HD25 question need pictures

Hello
i am working on an HD25
and seem to have something that doesn't look right
could someone post a picture of the tube that connects the powerhead and the lower unit ?
specifically between the pilot clamp and the thrust ring

it looks like i have a hole with threads there, but i don't know what it's for
a picture would help me understand

You can look at an exploded parts diagram from http://shop2.evinrude.com/ and find out what if anything goes there, if no one else chimes in with an answer.

Doesn't go back far enough
it's a 1947
the parts manual i have doesn't show that area very well
a picture of someone elses would hopefully get me what i need

Ahh ok sorry wasn't familiar with the model number so I didn't know what year it was.

whats going on here ?
what is the threaded hole for ?
i know it has a crack and needs to be fixed, but what exactly will i be fixing ??

could someone please posta picture of there HD25 in the same spot, so i can compare things

ok, so i had to hunt a bit for the right part in that pic
but what is it ?
whats it for ?
how does it look when it isn't broken ?

Tension adjustment screw and spring screws into that. Keeps the engine from swinging free. That's what it looks like in my book anyway..... I see no other purpose for it.

Its just to adjust the tension of the turning of the motor. I would not sweat it. Mine needs rings, so I might be selling it, if you need a parts motor. let me know.

I thought that was what the pilot ring was for ?

I am at work, so not sure. I know mine is complete, minus the recoil. Mine also has a new impeller. I will sell it for $70.00, you pay shipping.

Ok, no prob. Just looked at mine. There is a chrome thin head bolt with a hole in the center. Not sure what it does. The shaft that the powerhead bolts to prob. has a ridge on it and this special bolt sits over the ridge to keep it firmly seated. Just a guess though.
