HDPE Transom Plate??

Has any one tried using 1/4" (HDPE) highdensity polyethylene sheet for a transom plate? or would it deform when bolting it in.

Seems relitively cheap $16 for a 1'x2' piece (which is what I would need)

Has anyone out there worked with HDPE in sheet form??

Yeh for an elec trolling motor maybe, for a gas engine .... no way.
If the transom deforms under pressure its gone, kaput. rotted..done fer.

Just to clarify. I'm talking about replacing the little piece of 1/4 inch plywood plate on the exterior side of my aluminum boat hull. My transom is 1.5 inch marine plywood.


I also looked at aluminum plate for this and have notice there are multipul types grades of sheet aluminum and rather pricey.

What about Marineboard?

Just found this site that sells 1/4 inch 2ft x 2ft piece of marine plywood for $8.50 plus shipping. I'm thinking I should put out on a sperate thread as an FYI type of thing.

Skip the aircraft site, shipping the 2'x2' piece of plywood, is twice the cost of the the plwood itself . Back to the search.....

Taco makes this product .Taco 12"x27"x1/4" POLY.SHEET WHI P10-2512WHA27-1. Says it cuts and works like plywood. This is a marine product. Has anyone worked with this material before? Do you think it work for a transom plate?

Ahh its a tinny, anything that will not compress under pressure. I'd look for alum or stainless sheet.
