Re: Head gasket help

I have recieved my head gasket. my question is my in lbs torque wrench only goes to 200 in lbs. should I use a ft pound torque wrench. My manual calls for 225 in lbs. I converted that to ft lbs= 18.75 lbs.
Thanks in advance

Re: Head gasket help

If you have the choice, it is always better to use inch pounds since your accuracy is better. (your accuracy, not the wrench accuracy. If you tend to go over a little when the wrench clicks, it is not so extreme as with a foot pound wrench.)

If you have a pointer style wrench just be careful to read it accurately.

18.75 is kind-of on the low end of a foot pound wrench, but if that is all you have, that's what you will use.

Re: Head gasket help

The reason I was replacing the Head gasket was because water was getting in lower cly fouling plug. I have now replaced the head gasket. Motor ran good for a few min. started missing. Now I am replacing exhoust gasket what a job bolts hard to get to. but I got them all out. I hope this fixes the water problem.
