head gasket?

Motor is a 1991 Johnson 175 V-6. Seems to be a line of corrosion that follows the head/block seam on the port side. Is this an easy fix? Or am I opening up a potential can of worms?

I would do a compression test first.

is it the head and block or the head and head cover seam. water runs thru the head cover to help cool. engine diagram, follow prompts

I just bought a 77 175 evinrude and had water corrosion at the head gasket pulled both heads to check pistons and replaced gaskets from iboats. Run with the top off for a while to see if water leaks out. If its beening sitting might wanna tear into it.
