I have a jabsco toilet. I have the 37010 model and have replaced the macerator. The head work fine for several uses and then the waste will not leave toilet bowl and discharge to tank. The tank is only 1/4 full. Water will flow into toilet but will not excavate.

The macerator motor runs/spins but the bowl is not emptying

Sounds like you have something clogged. The mercerator is just a pump which chops up the stuff and pushes it into the tank. I'm guessing the hose of trap is where the problem is

Re: head help

In my boat, the macerator is only there to chew (eeww) it up before being discharged overboard (minimum 3 miles out, of course). Generally it should be a single short hose of sufficient diameter directly from the head to the holding tank. It shouldn't go through the macerator to get to the tank.

Re: head help

A Jabsco 37010 is an electric toilet which has some kind of "chopper" between it and the tank. This could be what the OP is calling his macerator, or it could actually be the macerator. Possibly it's located between the toilet and tank on an electric head.

A vacuum flush or manual pump toilet will have the macerator only on the dump tube, like Fireman431 said.

You can go to the ITT (owns Jabsco) help page and look at their 37010 problem diagnosis pages:

http://www.ittflowcontrol.com/support/37010-toilet-diagnosis/

The answer for the problem the OP described is:

Fluid/effluent is not being pumped out of the toilet

This can be caused by a blocked, obstructed or failed joker valve - clear the obstruction or replace the joker valve.

There may be a blockage round the chopper blade - clear the obstruction.

The centrifugal impeller may be damaged - check all the blades are intact and the set screw is tight

I have no idea what a "joker valve" is, or where your chopper blades and impellor are located. You should be able to go to the ITT (Jabsco) website and download the manuals for your system.

Re: head help

Check that your holding tank is breathing thru the vent, if not, waste would have a difficult time entering the tank and put undo stress on your new pump. Loosen or remove the deck waste pumpout cap and flush to troubleshoot. Good luck!

joker valve commonly called a "duckbill valve"... cause thats what it looks like.:)

Re: head help

OP has the electric flush which has a macerator built in the flush mechanism which is mounted in the same place as a manual flush. It chops up everything and then pushes it through the joker valve and then on to the holding tank like a manual flush would.

My first thought was the same as SASTO's, holding tank is pressurized so take the pump out cap off and flush. If that works then your vent tube is plugged and you will need to clear it by running something down it that will not poke a hole in it or replace it.

Second is your joker valve is stuck shut. Only a $10 item, easy to change because it is directly after the electric flush but stinky to mess with.

Good luck
