Ok I try to be a good neighbor so no driveway decarb. Don't want to smoke the neighbors out.
Is the conservation officer going to come unglued ? Or do most of the solids that make the smoke settle in the water. First time for this and not sure what to expect.

Thanks, Mike

I did my decarbin' while tied at our dock. It got the attention of the neighbors down wind! But they're nice folks and thought it was a new method of mosquito fogging.

So, my guess is expect smoke. You might also end up with a bit of oil/sludge slick if you stay in one place.

Re: Headed to lake for decarb

My advice, based on my own experience is to try to be as discrete as possible. Just try to do it away from other people if you can - in the middle of the lake, on a less traveled shoreline, at the ramp during off hours, etc.

The reason for this is that there will be a lot of stinky smoke. It's just courteous to minimize the stink for others, plus it's kind of embarassing to be running an engine that looks like it's about to blow up. That's how I felt when I did it anyway.

I did mine tied to my dock, and about smoked the neighborhood out. The only thing that saved me was the wind was blowing just hard enough to clear things out, but it was a lot of smoke.

Thanks fellas

About what I expected to hear. Maybe very early morning. Sure wish I lived in the middle of 40 acres of trees.

Did mine in the early evening - under the cover of darkness......Good thing to have on hand is extra beer - to placate the neighbors when they come over........

It was almost a bio-hazard site also...

Phatmanmike

I agree. Prefer to irritate the neighbors for a minute rather than foul the lake.

Mike

Drive way method. Makes the neighbors wondor what your cooking up. On a differant note, Sevearal years ago I was adjusting valves on a ford 289. Lots of oil smoke. the next day code enforcement was at my house wanting to know what was going on. The old lady that lives behind me claims that her house filled up with smoke. After I talked to the man all was cool. He evan agreed that the lady was KOOKOO.

cajun, if it were me, I would build a nice smokey fire for her, every time the wind was just right. :)

Now that was a great picture! A smiling neighbor, with a "barley pop" in hand, watching an engine make lots of noise and even more smoke. :D :D

Ahhhh! It's great to be an American.

Were not allowed to burn brush in city limits, besides the old woman died a few years back, but before she died she did put up a privacy fence.

The guy drinking does look a little happy. Wonder if that is really decarb smoke or maby a little wackey weed.

Nice to see you're serving Canadian beer for the smoke out. Just like burning leaves, if you do it on a foggy day, no one will notice.
