Headed out to pewaukee lake in Wi today. Going to go fight the crowds. Have to clean and polish the boat first. Will be my daughters first boat ride. So probably no top speed runs :/

Anyhow, who else is crazy enough to fight the weekend warriors?

Id go during the week but being gone 11 hours a day makes that not possible.

I don't go out in the ICW on summer weekends unless only traveling to the ocean. After today 90% of the tourists will be gone until June. Too many idiots and impaired, not to mention impaired idiots.

I've been debating heading out this weekend also . It does get a little hectic down here at times but there's plenty of water to spread out . Might have a bit of bad weather so that will probably be the deciding factor ..

Just remember its the 110th, and the HD riders will be out in force. Remember to look out while changing lanes, and I will be ONE of them HD Riders.

I'm staying away from the lake this weekend - have 35 pounds of pulled pork on the smoker and college football to watch!

GO HUSKERS! :)

I will be heading out later today if it doesn't rain. The lake is a mess though with a bunch of rain in the mountains washed all kinds of junk down.

I will be going out Sunday, its my yearly marina party, one of the may perks of slipping at a private marina.

Our alpine lakes are normally low traffic, so these busy holiday weekends are a bit fun and very social. Labor Day is a last fling for many so it is festive here rather than painful. Enjoy all and safe boating.

We took the trailer and boat up for a weekend on the lake with a couple of friends and all I have done on my boat so far is launch it and tie it up. So hopefully tomorrow is nicer I need to Do some skiing

Re: Headed to the lake today

I get to work all weekend......BUT even if I was off I wouldn't be caught near a lake. I have gone out fishing really early on a few holidays, but even on normal weekends I try and get on early and off by 10 or 11am. If I was pleasure boating I suppose that would be different.

Even if I wasn't on call this weekend, the closest I would get to the water would be sitting on my tailgate with a cooler watching the free entertainment at the ramp.
Seriously though, went for a long weekend last week and doing the same next weekend. I always try and miss amateur(holiday) weekends.

We dropped ours in the lake this morning. Unfortunately it is dam controlled and for some unknown reason at lunchtime (when we were eating lunch) they dropped the water 3' which left my boat land locked at the dock for the night (private dock). Hopefully tomorrow the water level will be back up so I can get it out.

Re: Headed to the lake today

Went out last night after dinner for a ski. Labor Day Saturday and we were one of three craft out on a 7300 acre lake. Yes, it was overcast and the water was warmer than the air, but it was spectacular. Starting to get a bit melancholy as hard water season approaches.

Y'all be safe out there. After this weekend the ICW and Atlantic are nearly mine.

I made it out today, and for shakedown cruise no less. Traffic was not bad at all and ramp operations were professional.

Some above post sound like a bunch of old washed up old ladies scared to leave the house.
Yes, there are a few clueless newbies that don't get the rules. Don't let that ruin your day.
If yall are too intimidated to go out maybe you should stay home, and just be online boaters.
For the Rest--ENJOY YOUR BOAT!:D

Re: Headed to the lake today

LOL! Some of us are retired and can go out any day. We have no desire to partake of the insanity I watched from my marina today. Tomorrow most tourons will be gone, Tuesday the rest will leave. The kiddies have school and parents one of those job things that no longer get in our way. Y'all think of us enjoying open water without you in our way. One day hopefully, you will be in the same position. I'll be pulling my crab pots in the ICW and fishing the Atlantic this week while you are at work.
