I have 2006 ez loader duel axel duel braking, float on trailer
Holds a 21 footer, rated 45oo lbs

Recently hearing strange noise coming from rear ( some place )
Driving and pinpointing is tough unless you have long leooogs ( hee hee)

Trying too describe what symtoms ocur.
Noise happens when turning
Notice when turning is a tight area, can see rear wheels on drivers side
When trailer not moving but truck is turning before trailer I hear a bang, then when I look back at rear wheels, on the turn one wheel seems like its coming off rim, from weight and the other looks like its starting too turn
While going straight its fine no noise.
I took boat out yesterday my brake accuator stopped working, no brakes on trailer. Opened cap and saw no brake fluid. Happened too check recently and it was full. Thought that was the reason why no brakes but did not help.
Just so happens I have a new set up from my old trailer, used only once and will change, but the noise has me concerned.
Not sure if accuator and knocking noise related too each oher ?
Dont know what too look for, either brake pads broke off,? U bolts weak, springs needing attention.
When I look at axels they look not totally straight up and down. Look a little at a slant?
I know best is take too a shop and wiriting over the net with out seeing is tough
Anybody out there with advice what I should be looking for ?
WHen I bought trailer years ago axels were not 100 percent straight, and just living with it, but could axles be moving when turning ? Nothing seems loose, but did not put a socket on it ???

Thanks

Re: Hearing banging noise on trailer

Your question is hard reading. First of all on a dual or triple axle, when making hard turns usually the inner tire has a hard time rolling because it is so close to the adjoining axle.It tends to slide versus rolling and that causes the side wall of the tire to get out of shape looking like it's about to come off the rim. This problem is not unusual. In fact it's normal. You need learn not to make such tight turns if possible. As far as no brake fluid you need to start looking for a leak. If your not mechanically inclined to do this, take it or have someone who is repair it.

First thought is that your rear differential has a locker in it and thats what you are hearing as you go around a tight corner.

Second thought was that the axle on the trailer, either one side or the other is slipping on the frame when you go around a corner with the brakes applied.
When you lift up on the brakes there is enough torsion to pull it back to being fairly straight.

(is there any indication of sliding between the U-Bolts and the frame?)

If the noise is a popping noise its probably one of the bushings having some excess wear.
Also if your tire pressures are to low you will have too much trailer tire grip and that makes it harder to turn and makes the tires look like they are going to come off the rims.
Air them to the max printed on the sidewall of the tire.

Look for the leak first. Then look at the suspension on the trailer and the axles to see if there is wear or loose/broken parts. Check the bearings while your back there as well.

Re: Hearing banging noise on trailer

Actually the noise you were hearing is the noise that the actuator is supposed to make when you are low/out of fluid. Since this is a 2006 EZ loader it has a shock absorber in the actuator. This actuator shock absorber is full of brake fluid under normal conditions. It cushions the tongue as the truck and trailer move in relation to each other. When you have no fluid you lose that shock absorption. Your statement about the truck turning and the trailer not gave it away. When you came to the stop the tongue compressed in. You may not have noticed when it happened but it did. Then you start to move again, the tongue moves and BANG, you hear a noise because there is no shock absorption there to cushion that motion.
If you fill the master cylinder, bleed the brakes and then go for a drive I'll bet you $10 the noise is gone.

Why would the master cyl be empty??? Maybe a sign of a leak?
