Heat Cracking of Epoxy

Here are some pictures that I took that can be found fairly common on my boat. My question is, to restore this, is it a simple sand down and epoxy coat with paint?

Uhhmmm no. Where are these cracks in the Gelcoat located? What boat is this? How old is it? We need more info and pics if you want us to be able to help you with more detailed advise.

Here is a picture of the boat. It is a 22' 1976 Cobia Gulfstream. The cracks are located on the rail near the transom.

The correct way to fix em would be to use a dremel tool with a v-groove bit and groove/bevel out each crack down to fresh glass. Then purchase some while gelcoat paste. Clean them out with Acetone and then overfill with the gelcoat paste. Spray it with some PVA so it will cure hard then sand and polish. I won't be an exact match since the old gelcoat has faded and oxidized but it will look better than it does now. Anywhoooo that's how I would do it. Some others may come along with other suggestions.

That sounds good to me. It could be down the road, but at least I know the direction of what's ahead.
