another thread made me re-think of this.

i intend to add two water driven heaters in the bote.
wuz just gonna run hot water from the water pump up the gunnels (one line on each side) to a fan driven heater core. (under the dash) and run the line back to the motor. (closed bow, gas tank in the front under the bow cap)
69 sea ray 190 srv
another thread made me re-think this solution.

its kinda cool at nite (may and sept) when me and my girl are boating.
wanted to add heaters.
thought that was an easy way.

the heater cores, with fans are about 240 a pop. need 2

is the block water gonna be hot enough? when she gets cold. (my girl) she wants it hot.....now!
is there a better, cheeper solution? (cuddeling works good but we still shiver)

thanx

Would those be marine approved fans or are you talking like a auto setup? Would need to be safe sealed marine safe for starters. Auto fan and you might not have a bote if you spring a fuel leak. Just a thought;)

FWC ? Do you run your bote in fresh water or is it fresh water cooled? You said in the heat exchange thread that you ripped out your closed cooling???

hi stars
your runnin a sea ray right? do i remember correctly 21 foot 1977??

you run a gas tank up under the bow.

the heater cores would be fan/core in one box. i believe it would be for a farm tractor.....store in canada called princess auto. its an all in one unit.

i was gonna place the heaters just under the dash. bout three feet away from the tank so i dont think the little fan motors would give a spark enought to be a problem, gas fumes ride low too.

the current set up is fresh water cooled, water sucked out of the lake, ren thru the motor, thru the manifolds, and back into the lake.

i trashed my closed cooling system on a 4 cyl i had in there before. if the boat was in salt i would use closed, but for strictly lake water closed is usless.

cheers oops

just install a bench seat, and a blanket. you'd be surprized how warm it can get.

Ayuh,....... You've got to start getting your Terms Right......

The quote above describes a Raw Water cooling system,......
Regradless of whether you're boating in Freshwater or Saltwater.......

The Closed Cooling System that you trashed is called Freshwater Cooling.......

wuz just gonna run hot water from the water pump up the gunnels (one line on each side) to a fan driven heater core. (under the dash) and run the line back to the motor. (closed bow, gas tank in the front under the bow cap)

Ayuh,........ Been there,.... Done that,.....And,... It worked Perfectly......
Except,......
The water flows from the Intake manifold/ Block,...... To the waterpump......
I mounted a cab heater from an "R" model Mack under the passenger's seatbox,......
It blows out from under the seat onto the passengers,+ driver.....
The only draw-back is,..... There's no defroster plumbed from it......

there are also plug-in 12v blankets. the cheap ones don't work as well, buyer beware.

Coleman's propane camping stuff will work really well in a pinch but of course it is NOT approved for marine use.
