HEI Ignition Wires on Cobra 4.3L?

I bought new ignition wires on the Internet for my '87 OMC Cobra 4.3L. When they arrived the box says they're for a GM V6 262 engine but with a Delco HEI ignition (1996 and newer). The wires look correct but they are red. What is the difference between these and what I should have? (My distributor uses points.) Confused: Do you have HEI or Point Ignition. That I know of, HEI didnt have any points.<br /><br />If its HEI, 8mm Wires would be what I suggest. If not, 7mm Wire cable should be used. Resistances could be different

My distributor uses points. The wires I got was for a Delco HEI ignition. The wires have stampd on them Mercruiser Suppression 1Q03.

If they have the Correct Ends on them,<br />They'll Work Just Fine........................

The HEI distributors usually have "male" looking posts, with the metal conductor exposed, while points distributors typically have "female" type posts, with the metal conductor inside a hollow post. Require different wires.

I will check for proper connectors tonight. Upon initial inspection, they looked OK bu t I'll look further. My main concern was is the resistance the same? Will they pass along the same "spark"?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Ed
