Hello iBoaters,

My name is Dave and as you may have gathered, I am new here.

For context, I can tell you I'm in my 40's and live in a suburb of St Paul, MN with my fiancee and 21 year old daughter. For the last ten years I have been waging the long fight to regain my health and mobility after an injury that left me in a wheelchair. I'm a LOT better now, thank you.

Now back on the topic of boats...

A couple years back I bought an 18' 1965 Mark Twain closed-bow runabout in amazingly pristine condition and intended to really enjoy it; unfortunately I somewhat overestimated my ability level and the economy went all pear-shaped so it didn't work out at all how I had planned.

Now I find myself at a point that I can begin dusting off those old plans and setting them on their feet to see if they run, my health and abilities are finally where I thought they were then (or better) so here I am.

I got the usual big bag 'o newbie questions, ideas, and so forth, but this is just an intro post so I'll save the meat and potatoes for elsewhere and just say "Hi!"

Stay safe!

Hello Dave Welcome to iBoats!!!

I am also very new to this site and boating, but I found a tremendous amount of help and information on this site. There are extremely knowledgeable people willing to help answers questions, and offer advice.
Good luck on your project!

Re: Hello all!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Sorry it took so long to chime back in, I got bogged down in the long, long, fascinating thread about a hull extension and Corona beer.....

Re: Hello all!

Hi Rollerdave !! Welcome ! Now I must advise you - being a newbie to start slow and to your skill level...... Firmly grab the bottle at the neck , raise perfered bottle opener to the cap ( I like the one built into the flipflops)
and give a sharp snap up . Add lime wedge and enjoy a sip while surveying your craft . She's a fine craft ain't she . Don't spend too much time Extending the hull yet , get it on the water first to enjoy.!!!!! I too have a nice "60's runa bout . It's a ton of fun :D peter

Hi Dave! My name is Art, and I am an iboataholic with MBS (multiple boat syndrom). I will warn you once ... run, as fast as you can, away from boating and this site. It may be your last chance, because after becoming hooked, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!:p:D
