Hi all! I'm new to this forum, but not new to boating and fishing, etc.

Lessee... I'm 55 years old and in my life have owned 10 boats. I currently have TWO project boats going... but that's another story! LOL :D

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself.

Glad to be aboard!

Re: Hello everyone - new guy here

Here are the pix. I got the big boat 2 weeks ago and the small boat last week.

The big one is a 1979 North American, 22' 8" LOA. Very solid.

The small one is a 1973 Dolphin tri-hull 15' 3" LOA, onto which some maniac installed a 1986 115HP Mercury! Uhhhh.... NO! LOL

I was searching for a motor for the big boat when I happened upon the little guy with the big outboard sitting outside a pawnshop. The whole package for the Dolphin, the Merc, the Magic-tilt trailer, battery, fuel tank, anchor and other accessories was less than I'd seen for an engine alone. So I HAD to get it too!

Now I have a big boat to take waaaaayyy out into the Gulf and the small one for fishing freshwater and the flats.

The plan is to take the Merc off the small boat and put it onto the big one as a temporary "get it in the water" approach. Later, as funding comes along, I'll acquire and install another 115HP Merc and have twins on there.

The little boat needs stringers replaced and I'm also planning on making improvements as well. And it'll obviously need to be repowered.

Gonna be fun.

Welcome aboard!
Love the lines of that North American...
That dolphin sure would be Mr. Toads Wild Ride!!!
Guess it's got about 80 horses too many huh?

Re: Hello everyone - new guy here

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone!

Yeah... the lines on that North American are what drew me to the boat. Along with the extremely cheap price. And that hull looks like it should give a nice dry ride.

As for the monstrous Dolphin... I dunno... scares me just to LOOK at that thing! Now, mind you, I've driven some VERY fast stuff in my life, but that little boat just flat out worries me with that big honkin' motor on there! LOL!

Yeah... it's likely 80hp too many for sure! :D

If you don't want that much HP, just pull a couple of plug wires loose. That way, you'll have it if you decide you need it.:D

Sounds about right to me too. How does yours ride?

I've been toying with the idea of twin 15s for the Dolphin. Wouldn't be too much nor too little. I have lots of improvement plans for that little boat, but need to focus on the North American first.

The big boat needs less to be done to get on the water. I've already dropped in a 75 gallon fuel tank and when my neighbor is available, I can hang the Mercury on the back. Then install a seat or two and get it ready for sea trials. Once it's operational, I can fuss with the aesthetic stuff. I have all the time I need.

Being retired has advantages! :D
