First off I want to say hello. I just purchased a new Mercury 340 Airdeck SIB from Defender it should be here sometime on Thrusday. I figured I would buy the boat this fall and save to purchase a outboard early next year. I choose this boat for the hypolon fabric. The boat comes with a 10 year warranty and most of the reviews I have read have been pretty positive. Does anyone own one of these boats and have anything good or bad about them? I wiil be using it on small Sierra Mountian lakes mostly for fishing with my 15 year old son. I am pretty excited I have owned ski boats in the past cant wait to give this SIB a good run.:)

Thanks in advance, Doug

Re: Hello New Member

Fist of all, Welcome to the Forums!! Nice to see new boating members.

It's supposed to be a great fun sib well manufactured, has a good local warranty, anyway as you cannot check conditions prior to arrival, would be a good idea to have an overall fabric check once arrived to place an inmediate warranty call if arrived with issues, as has happened with some mates here for buying with $ discount previous years sibs. A 15-18 HP, 2 strokes if possible to get, would be the way to go to max out that size sib. If budget is tight and only want an enigine to take you to the fishing spot a Tohatsu 9.8 would be an excellent price & performer alternative.

Buy a pressure gauge, air decks needs tons of psi for good performance, inflate tubes, keel and deck to match factory recommended procedures & pressures.

Happy Boating
