Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Hi all, my name is Rose and I just happened to stumble onto this site. My husband John & I just bought our first boat. It is a used ole' gal. She is a 1985 Starcraft Islander 191V with a 140 hp Merc I/O We gave $3000 for her and she came with all accessories, the humminbird fish/depth finder, Eclipse loran gps, ship to shore radio, life vests, bimini cover and full curtain (I think that/s what its called) We took her on an inland lake called Pleasant Hill (about 45 min from us) for her maiden voyage. We plan to take her to lake Erie, probably next year. I don't believe we are "seasoned" enough to go out on the big waters yet! I was surprised at the size of the cuddy cabin! The first purchase was a port-a-potty. It's easily hidden and there's still lots of room to sit or take a nap. I've read a little about the starcraft boats online and didn't realize what a treasure we have found and hope we will get years of use from her. Kids are grown and it's just the two of us now. Time to have some fun! :D Are there any specific things (pros/cons) about this boat that we should know.We plan to do some updating this winter, such as new seats (preferably captains chairs :p , give her new engine cover, interior and a paint job. Here's a pic, though not very good. It was taken with our cell phone camera. Any ideas or hints about this boat would be a great help.

Welcome Rose! Islanders are really cool. Sounds like you got a screaming deal at $3k. Good luck with it.

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Thanks EZ,
I think we will enjoy her. Now if I can just use the fishfinder to my advantage and actually CATCH some fish I will be happier yet!:D
We had no idea that the Starcraft is such a safe & practical boat! We were just looking for something light and easy on the gas. The gentleman that we bought it from looked a little sad when we picked her up, I think he was having second thoughts on selling her. That, or he realized how much she was really worth after settling on the price! I think we will name her Dickens Delight, since our last name is Dickens and she is our delight! Or maybe name her: Sorry it's mine, the plates on the trailer say SRYxxxx

Hello, I have a 1975 American 16 with a 120 I\O. I bought it as a project boat for a $180 with no motor but with a roller trailer. I am now tearing the floor out of it to replace the floor and atleast one stringer. I will post some pics later.

I just bought my first boat, a 1983 Starcraft CSS 161B with OMC stern drive. I think it still have its original motor. Great boat and everything is working great. The thing is I don't have any manual for it. I was searching the internet and I found this forum. Great to be a part of iboats. If anyone have any info about my boat, I appreciate it if you could give me a howler. Thanks much. I'll be posting some pics soon.

most boats dont come with an owners manual per se... usually they come with a brochure and a safe boating brochure.

what is it about the boat you are wanting to know?

Welcome to iboats battscrew. That boat looks to be in real nice shape especially for a '96. I prefer outboards so I really like that boat.

1976 Starcraft Supersport 16' open bow. I love this boat. We go out on Erie almost every weekend and this year, it was rough. We had a number of times when 6+ footers were rolling and after our ride, pulled the plug and it was dry. What a great boat. Here is a YouTube link to our fishing videos this summer.

Thanks STARCRAFT16SS. It's pretty much my ideal hull so I'm excited to begin working on it. My family is excited about all the room in it.

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Picked up this 1977 SuperSport a few weeks back. It's a project. No seats, missing port console, no engine, windshield not installed. A good hull and trailer for $500. I am currently in the process of bringing back to life a 1964 Evinrude Starflite VI, 75hp to hang on the back. I want to float this boat at least once before I tear out the floor and redo her. I'm really looking forward to getting her in the water.

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Welcome to the Club Krich. Nice looking boat. I think thats the first one I have seen with no paint. Looks like you got a deal on her. Check out the Tinstock thread. You have about 3 months to get her ready. I see you are in SC, so you dont have far to go! Look forward to more pics. Dale
