yah haaaa, kick butt. i like this idea! :D my starcraft is a '71 12 foot superstar. i have a 'rude 9.5 on it, but i'm replacing it on thanksgiving with a 'rude 15, soezin i's can get up out the wata! i'll get a pick of it later. i did some major transom woodwork and am thinking of other things right now. all this to a 12? yup, isn't a reason to have a bigger boat in colorado. the lakes are small, deep, and teaming with salmon and trout!

2003 Sea Farer 14' and a 2003 Merc 20 hp. Still pretty shiny & new looking, but I don't expect that to last! I plan on keeping it "forever". Usually by the time I'm done with stuff, nobody else wants it!
<-------There it is...

out of curiosity, what would happen to somebody if they got caught with a bigger motor than the bic plate states for the boat? reason i ask is my superstar is getting a 15 'rude and the plate says 10hp max.

Hi all -

Please visit my pitiful website below to see what's up with my 1976 Starcraft Holiday 18 runabout, with a 1975 70HP evinrude hanging off the back.

------------

walleyehed -

That must be a fun ride!

I know it's really not designed for it, but I'd still like to hang a second 70HP off the back of mine! maybe build sortakinda like a huge kicker-board transom extension-thingy...

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Had a though guys..if anyone wants to know (seriously) how to improve handling greatly on the outboard, remote steering boats, I thought I would add this. If you have a referb going on now, this is the time to do it, although it can be done at any time.
On 16ft and shorter boats, add a 3" setback made from 5/16" channel alum...on the 17-up, add 5-6" alum channel setback (best if 3/8" material)..doesn't have to be a jackplate, and the material is around 40 bucks.
I had 5-1/2" setback (5/16"-a bit thin) on my 18 in the picture with a 115, and the ease of handling and stability it added in turns impressed me greatly. I hung my 200 on that thin 5/16" material and run 56-57MPH with no problems, but for ease of testing so many different props I had to go to a jackplate and it's multiple pieces of 3/8".
This feature eliminated any porpoise problems, and increased the effectiveness of the trim.
The only item of concern is the length of the steering cable, which will work unless it is stretched to the limit as is.
I've done this on 3 boats now, all starcraft-2 18's and 1 17 with an 85...positive results on all 3.
Just something you might want to look into that I have found to improve handling.

Gonfishn,

I like your boat. Can you provide more pics as to how you set it up? I am looking for ideas for restoration on a 18 foot Holiday that I have. It's a '66 0r '67 model (can't find the dataplate).

Very cool - when did Iboats add the brand-specific boards?

Anyway, here's one of mine... Freshly redone as of July 2005. New stringers, transom, interior, etc. It's a 1974 American 15.

And another... Just starting to work on it. It's a 1976 American 18...
Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

I currently have a 16' 85' StarCraft SuperSport...my second SuperSport. Bought my first in 72' brand new. Rebuilt the interior once and sold it when the 85' came along. The 85' came with a 50hp Johnny that I tweaked up a little and could do 32 with just me in the boat. Then came along the 90hp Johnny. Well! says I. The boat is rated for 90....so. Now I got a 90 on the back of it.

Wouldn't have another boat I don't think. Handles rough water well and is real smooth on glass water.

Are StarCraft owners addicted or what?

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Hello all. I have a 16' 1969 Mariner Deep V with a Evinrude 48 Spl hanging off of the transom. I purchased this boat at the end of the season last year and have not taken it out yet. The former owner replaced the seats, floor and carpet. The entire outer hull had a dark blue paint job. She's a nice looking small boat. Does anyone here have a bost like this? If so I'd like to hear pros/cons with this model of boat if you have a quick couple of minutes. Is this boat good in slight chop? She's a deep boat, so I suspect she would be. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me an idea. ;)
