Re: Hello to the Forum...!

Welcome to iboats.

We have a fresh water fishing section here in iboats.

There is a facebook page called FishVermont which has some nice pictures of Champlain fish on it ;)

I normally love Champlain but this summer I am "drydocked" due to knee replacements so the boat sits in storage. :( It will give the fish a chance to get bigger!

Re: Hello to the Forum...!

Hey go for it! Recently a guy caught a 25 lb Cat in Lake St Catherine and that was a big surprise.

Just FYI Jeremy Wade (River Monsters) was on Champlain about 2 months ago ;)

Yes, my absolute favorite place to fish because of all of the varied species. Anything south of the bridge will lack the beautiful colors since the water is always muddy and north of the bridge the fish are pretty. I favor the bucket mouths but great smallies up north of the bridge.

Come on over and do your damage :D I suspect there are enough to go around!

Now the BAD NEWS :( Recently they found the "spiny water flea" in the lower canal into Champlain which is very invasive http://nas.er.usgs.gov/queries/factsheet.aspx?SpeciesID=162

That's what I was trying to show was a picture of was a 10 lbs cat...humm
When I launch up there I use the Ticonderoga Ferry location...good and deep.. and your right.. great fishing on that lake..
Lake George has some good fishing too and I actually live on the Hudson River in Lake Luzerne,NY which is holding big one as well ..
I just love to fish...and boat..
What is the deal with the water flea..gets in your outdrive ? then into the next body of water...
Lake George is dealing with the Zebra mucles now...

Re: Hello to the Forum...!

Welcome!
I'm pretty new here too. Have found a ton of info. here and met a lot of great folks, I mean a bunch, and a few (only a very few) that really could lighten up some, if you know what I mean. Overall this is a great place to share and learn. You can also purchase about everything you could need to restore or modify your boat. I pray it works out for you as well as it has for me this far.
Again, welcome!!

Great Bass spot just under the Fort ....... there is a piece of rock that is nice structure about 200 yards out and by the papermill is great too.

Yep, Bomoseen (closest lake to me) has great bass but is infected with zebra mussels too...... no stopping them.

I have no idea how to stop the flea?? Who knows what the best plan is and how the natural resources are going to deal with it. :(

Re: Hello to the Forum...!

Good Morning and thanks for the hello Casey.........if your out there this morning..hehe...
Seems to be alot of great threads flying around here.....look forward to reading them all....

and good morning to you Bob....
yeah...roger just below the fort in TI.. I have caught some monster's around that area...
I used to have a camp out in front of the fort......as you said very murky water...and weeds...geesh..
but we used to go out as far as the cut off line for states..where it got deep and bang huge Northern's throught the ice...
Maybe I should have re thought leaving that relationship (ex ) before giving up that wonderful camp location...great for snowmobiling.fishing.boating...sailing my Hobie Cat.....sure do miss that camp..but not that tramp.....hahah
I will figure out later how to attach photo's and quote multiple's.....untill than I'll have to combine messages..
Thanks again Casey ...and I'll ttyl Bob.....got to go to work and ring the register...
