Hi and thanks for the add to the forum.
I just purchased a new to me StarCraft aluminum inboard boat, with the intention of restoring it, however I can't find the identification number for the boat and the seller didn't know what the model is. It is just under 19' in length and is 7' at the widest point.
Any ideas I was told it was an 1986.
Thanks

its a starcraft. post the HIN. soon many folks in the starmada will be along.

if you do not have proper paperwork it may be a yard planter. not sure of the requirements up in Canada.

I have paperwork but up here before 2007 not much was required.
I am unable to locate the HIN, I checked in the back of the hull but there is nothing there. Hence the reason I'm asking for help!

HIN wouldnt provide a model, but its a SuperSport open bow.

If ifs 18' 6" or 18' 9"

It looks post 1973 ir so, so it had a HIN, if it doesnt, that'd be a red flag.....

And its an Inboard/Outboard (I/O) not an inboard.

Thanks jbcurt00 its 18'9" any idea of year?

And why would it be a red flag to have no HIN?

It looks post 1973 so it should have 1, if it doesnt have 1, the HIN plate was removed. That suggests a problem w chain of ownership.... it may not be stolen, but why would someone remove the HIN?

I searched the hull number and nothing came up about it being stolen and I was given the pleasure craft license from the previous owner from 2003.
The license doesn't have a HIN number just 1986 written in it's place.

no HIN would indicate that the boat may not be officially yours. (it may be stolen)

So I've finally got no snow and nice weather, and some other questions about this boat.
The motor for the outdrive is 110hp mercruiser, would this help to narrow down the model of this boat?

Thanks

In Canada registration is federal - so country wide.
The registration 40E 4464 will be registered with the Federal Ministry of Transport. 40E is the office which issued the number and 4464 your actual number.
When I registered my Islander in 2007 they wanted me to have a declaration notarized at a lawyer for $150 saying it wasn't stolen!!! Yup its on your honor!!!
Plus the guy I talked to at the Ministry knew everything about the boat.
The provincial consumer agency - sorry forgot exact title - will have info on whether the boat has liens. The provincial police should be able to tell you if it's stolen.
The registration is about who to go looking for if it sinks and causes pollution or if they find it adrift with no one aboard.
The ownership document is the Bill of Sale from the previous owner - be it a Manufacturer , Marina , Retail store or member of the public. There is no such thing in Canada as title "Pink Slips" for boats. Nor it the actual owner recorded anywhere. So registration and ownership are two different things.

Only in CANADER EH!!!

Assuming the motor is original, can you find a serial number on the motor? That may help you determine the year of the boat.

Why do you want to know the model? Seems like if you try to go thru gov registration and such it could cost a lot of extra money. I'd just fix what I can and enjoy the boat, whatever model it is!
